Aimee’s Lotions ‘N’ Potions Review and Giveaway (Ends 9/2)

A few months ago I was watching an episode of Dr. Oz where they were talking about how important the things we put on our body being as important as the things we put in them. The said that the average woman put something like 28 chemicals on her face before leaving the house in the morning and that our skin absorbs these chemicals and they can build up as toxins in our bodies and cause problems over time. That really got me thinking about the products that I put on my face, especially my moisturizer, and I decided I wanted to make a change. I started researching companies that offer natural, chemical free skincare products and I am very excited to introduce you to !

Aimee’s mission is to create the purest and most natural skincare (how amazing does her skin look by the way). Her own medical experiences sparked her passion and got her started on a mission to a healthier lifestyle and made her very aware of what we put on and in our bodies.  She thinks of skincare as the diet for your body; it needs great vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and protein just like your body. It is a light, non-greasy moisturizer that absorbs quickly. Often when I change my moisturizer I have a mini breakout as my skin transitions but that did not happen with this moisturizer. Most of the moisturizers that I have used in the past do not have a scent; the Light & Moisturizing Facial Cream has a very strong scent. It is very herbal and natural smelling because of the herbs and oils that are in the cream. The scent doesn’t last for long and while it was a big change initially I have grown to love it.


The Light & Moisturizing Facial Cream is rich in Vitamin’s A, B1, B2, D, E, & Beta Carotene, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, ALA’s and protein. These ingredients work together to refine, renew and rejuvenate your skin cells while protecting your skin from damage. Your skin will feel more nourished and you will notice that your skin is softer. I love the difference that it is making in my skin and the fact that the ingredients are all natural.

SnackTAXI Review and Giveaway (Ends 8/26)

Have you heard of ? They are a US based company that makes reusable snack, sandwich and produce sized sacks. They also make reusable napkins.  Erin founded snack Taxi in 2003. Erin is a mother of three who wanted to reduce the amount of plastic waste that came from her children’s lunches. As Erin put it she, “had definitely fallen prey to the easy appeal of the ziplock baggie. “

Snack Taxi sacks are made of fabric and are lined with a coated nylon and a Velcro closure to keep things from falling out. They also offer organic options as well. They can be machine washed and dried or wiped clean with a damp cloth. At first I was concerned about how much time and energy it might take to clean them out but it has been surprisingly easy.

On their site they shared some stunning information: “The US alone adds 20 million plastic baggies to landfills every single day. Every reusable bag you use has the potential to eliminate thousands of plastic bags over its life span. The snack-sacks and sandwich-sacks that we’ve sent out into the world in the last 2 years alone have kept over 7 million plastic baggies out of the waste stream.  That’s 430,000 pounds of plastic!”

I was shocked when I started paying attention to how many plastic bags my Snack Taxi replaced. In the first few weeks it replaced at least 10 bags and that was in the summertime. I can only imagine the difference the Snack Taxi will make during the school year!

Snack Taxi is also very easy and convenient, especially with the school year starting soon. I would recommend having a few on hand so that you can always have them ready to go. We love our Sandwich Sack. I use it for sandwiches and also use it to hold his snacks for road trips etc. People are always commenting on how cute it is. Much cuter than plastic bags! The Velcro closure is easy for my son to open but stays put until you want to open it. They are well made in rural Massachusetts by local sewers.

Is it just me or is it beyond frustrating to have to constantly be replacing everyday items that seem to sprout legs and run away? I cannot count the amount of sippy and snack cups that I have had to replace over the years. Don’t get me started on dishes that I bring to potlucks or dinner parties that end up going home with someone else. Not to mention jackets and other every day items that always seem to disappear.

As a former teacher getting ready for my first child to start school, anticipating the amount of time I will be spending in the lost and found, I decided to take a more proactive approach and started looking for solutions. In the past I have seen and used many different kinds of labels. They all inevitably fade, peel, leave residue or don’t stay put. I have spent a lot of time looking for a labeling system that will actually stay put until I want them off.  is exactly what I had been looking for!

Kidecals has a wide selection of personalized, waterproof labels and decals. Their labels stick to any surface including clothes, dishes, sports equipment, supplies and almost anything you can think of. I recently received the Mini Set of labels, which included 120 labels that are 1 x .25 in. They offer many different sizes and styles so it is easy to find the right fit for your needs. Gymboree Review

My son and daughter loved taking their classes last month so when we had the opportunity to do another month of classes we jumped at the chance. This time we decided to try out the 2 hour Art and Sports drop off class for my son. He will be starting pre school in a few weeks so we thought this would be a great way to help him transition to going to class without us.

I wasn’t sure how he was going to do at the drop off class. He always has a wonderful time at Gymboree but he sometimes gets anxious about being places without us. The staff was wonderful and made him feel so comfortable. We had to ease him in the first time but within a few minutes he didn’t remember we were even there and we left without an issue. When we came back 2 hours later he didn’t want to leave!

Little Man was telling me all about soccer and teeth (which had been the topics for the day) and he kept asking me when he could go back to Gymboree. Throughout the next week he continued to use new words he had learned in class and was telling everyone we met (quite literally) about his love for Gymboree. His excitement for his Gymboree class continued to develop week by week! They did a unit on community helpers where they talked about dentists, mail carriers, contractors and other jobs that have a role in the community. Each week they completed art projects based around the job they were learning about. My son loved playing soccer and working on kicking the balls which is excellent for coordination. His favorite part was when they would huddle up, put their hands in and say, “Go team!” He even got us to do it at home a few times when we were working on family projects.

Selfishly it was nice to be able to run some errands and spend quality time one-on-one with my daughter while he was happily entertained, learning and getting his wiggles out at Gymboree.

As a parent it is so rewarding to see your child be enthusiastic about learning. I love the environment they foster at Gymboree and the opportunity it gives children to make new friends. As a former teacher I love giving my children opportunities to listen to and learn from other instructors and to work with children outside their family and their familiar social circle so that they will feel more comfortable when school starts.

The school year is only a few weeks away and Gymboree is a wonderful option for children 5 and under to learn, play and grow in a safe and child friendly environment.

Who doesn’t love having something personalized? I am a huge fan of personalized and monogramed gifts. When you receive a gift that is personalized you instantly know that there was thought put into it. I found the perfect backpack for my son in her back to school collection. We decided to go with the Monogrammed Black Sporty Diamond Backpack. Monica was kind enough to send us the backpack in small and full sizes along with the matching pencil case.

We love them all! The is perfect for outings and appointments. It is the right size for his water, snacks, and a few toys to fit comfortably. It is too small though to comfortably fit a full size folder or notebook. We take this small backpack almost everywhere and my son loves being able to carry his own things (and so do I).

Million Dollar Tan Review

Growing up in Southern California where I played outdoor sports year-round and never applied sunscreen I always had a glowing tan. Over the years as I grew older, wiser to the dangers of extended sun exposure and more pale because of it, I really started to miss having a tan! I wanted to get a perfect tan without the dangers of conventional tanning so I started spending a lot of time and money researching and testing sunless alternatives.

Over the years I have tried several sunless tanners and they have each had their problems: orange, streaky, stinky, and oily to name a few. I became determined to find a better solution and that is when I came across .

Lindsay and her team at Million Dollar Tan had the same frustrations with the sunless tanning products on the market and sought to make something better. For over 10 years they have been proving the highest quality sunless tanning products and have tanned countless celebrities. Now their products are available directly. If you are new to sunless tanning they offer answers to any questions you may have on their website.

I recently tried their , which is a moisturizing Sunless Tanning Lotion and I have a lot to say about it! First of all it is paraben free and is made using organic ingredients. One of my favorite features of Cabana Tan is that it goes on clear. I hate the sunless tanning lotions, creams and foams that make me feel like I am just rubbing dye onto my skin. MDT’s Cabana Tan is different. The tan is water based so it won’t clog your pores or cause breakouts and it only fades as your skin naturally exfoliates which gives you a longer lasting, even fading tan. I love the fact that it dries quickly, isn’t sticky and doesn’t leave you with a greasy residue.

Cabana Tan is available in two shades, their regular Cabana Tan (which I used), and Cabana Tan Extreme for those who like a darker tan. I love the freedom that Cabana Tan gives you. You can apply it as often as you want to achieve the shade you like. Personally I like to apply it weekly for a perfect-bronzed glow. It really does leave your skin feeling moisturized.

I was surprised by how evenly it goes on. They recommend applying your regular lotion to hands, feet, elbows and knees before applying Cabana Tan since those are the spots that will soak up the lotion and color the most. This really made a difference! While they claim to be odor free I do not fully agree. However I can easily say that Cabana Tan has the least odor out of any sunless tanner I have tried and I strongly recommend using it with an odorless lotion. When I did that I barely noticed any scent at all.

Recently I went to my dentist’s office and when I walked through the door they asked if I had just gotten back from a vacation and were telling me how great my tan looked. I quickly told that that I hadn’t gone on vacation; I had just used Million Dollar Tan a couple days before. They were amazed and so am I! I know I sound like a walking infomercial but Million Dollar Tan’s Cabana Tan is a truly amazing product that I strongly recommend.
