Cholula Hot Sauce Review

Each of us over here at YGTB got to review the 4 pack of and give you our thoughts and opinions on the spicy concoction.

Samantha says~I have to tell you that I am a big wimp when it comes to spicy heat.  I just have never been a big fan of the burning sensation of hot peppers in my mouth, but my husband has quite a different opinion on the subject.  He loves hot sauces and the tingle on his lips after he bits into a spicy burrito or great hot wing.  When I asked him if he wanted to be the guinea pig for this review he was stoked. In case you did not know, Cholula is the hot sauce you see sitting next to the ketchup on lots of restaurants around town so the hubby knew exactly what hot sauce I was getting to get.


We decided to take the gift pack to a work BBQ and get even more reviews with our appetizer dish.  On the BBQ night I wiped up a super yummy buffalo chicken dip and off we went.  We gave directions to everyone to add as little or as much of the hot sauce to their dip and let us know what they thought.

I was glad that we had four flavors to choose from because everyone wanted to mix in something different.  The Chili Garlic and Original were tied for most used, but all of the flavors were liked by the crowd.  I even tried a little of the original mixed into my dip to be a good sport and I have to say that although there was some tingling going on I do thing Cholula has lots of flavor with the kick.  If you are into heat you will definitely want to check out the and for tons of recipes to spicy up everything from eggs, omelets and hash browns to soups, dips, sauces, pizza, Bloody Mary’s, and even popcorn!  Even if you are not into the spicy of hot sauce, like me, but know someone that is, you can’t go wrong with this little gift set for Christmas or a birthday.   


Julie says~My husband is the big hot sauce member of the family, although I sometimes enjoy a spot of heat on scrambled eggs. We tried all four flavors. He thought the Original had a hardy amount of heat with a steady bite to it, instead of a shocking after bite. Not overpowering but adds a good flavor. He tried the Original with his white clam sauce to add zing! The Chipotle was his favorite flavor with its deep smokey taste, somewhat reminiscent of chili. He was surprised at how good the Chili Lime sauce was, a bit milder and sweeter, with just a hint of lime. And the Garlic sauce had a good balance of heat with the garlic flavor, although he thought it would taste better if it were Roasted Garlic! All in all, a great set of sauces to have on hand for spicing up a variety of dishes!
Amber says~As I’ve mentioned in other post my Dad is a lover of hot sauces.  He loves to find a new one and he adds it to everything.  I was delighted with the Cholula sauce came in a nice gift pack of four.  I knew it would make a great Dad gift.  My dad’s first response when he saw this sauce was “OH, yes this is the GOOD stuff”!   He had apparently had this sauce before and LOVED it.  Dad says you don’t need to know anything else just know if you’re a hot sauce lover this is the sauce for you.  This sauce has plenty of flavor and is balanced with plenty of heat!  This combination makes it just what my dad wants.  Not so much heat you can’t enjoy your meal, but just the right balance to make each forkful go down nice and smooth with a crisp bite. I must say with Dad’s rave reviews Cholula is definitely a winner in my book!
